Camille LaPorte

A little about me;

My name is Camille LaPorte but I also go by Cami. I am 19 years old and I am currently enrolled at the University of New Mexico. I am a freshman in my second semester at the university. I am working towards a degree in Chemical Engineering. After graduating I intend on becoming a pharmacist. To do so I plan on enrolling into the Pharm. D program at the University.  If I succeed in becoming a Pharmacist, I plan on staying local and giving back to my community.

I am taking an English 120 class where I was asked to create a portfolio. This portfolio is to contain all the work and projects I have successfully fulfilled for my English class. Through these projects I was able to learn how to analyze, conduct research, and create my own arguments. Through project one I was able to successfully execute analyzing Steven King's "The Boogeyman". To conduct research I focused on Immigration, specifically on why immigrants come to the U.S. Lastly to learn how to create my own argument I was able to create a proposal and provided evidence to back up my claim.

After finishing all these projects I had to edit them and make them portfolio ready. For project one I had a lot of spelling error. I re-read the blog and fixed everything that I found. By doing this it made my project look more professional and easier to understand. Another correction I made to my project one was deleting most of the ads I had to the right of my blog. I added them because I wanted it to really have a blog feel. What I didn't realize was that these ads were taking away from my blog and made it distracting. I also added references so I could show where I got my information from. Lastly I fixed the picture problem I was having with them covering my text. For project two to be portfolio ready I had to re-organize the pictures and paragraphs so that my audience could see my pictures along with the text. I also lengthened my conclusion, giving a better summery of what I talked about and why I believe immigration is happening. In project three I didn’t have to edit anything. I was able execute this project right off the back and made it the best it could be.

When all my projects where corrected and I was pleased with how they looked, I focused on my student learning outcomes. I only had 9 of these SLO and the end of project 3 so I had to add three more to complete all 12. At the beginning I had the SLOs separated by projects but it didn’t flow the best so I took my instructors advice and organized them all in alphabetical order. This helped with the flow and had a better look over all. The last and final edit that I did was to my Feedback page. This page holds all the peer reviews and IA reviews that I received. At first I had all the peer reviews at the top of the page and all the IA reviews at the bottom. When I looked over it, it looked a bit messy and unorganized so I placed the reviews a bit different. I split the page into three parts. Project 1, project 2, and project 3. Under each project I placed the corresponding reviews and increased the font size, making it easier to read. This helped with the organization and made the page overall easier to read and follow.
